If a reasonably just Society of Peoples whose members subordinate their powers to reasonable aims is not possible, and human beings are largely amoral, if not incurably cynical and self centered, one might ask, with Kant, whether it is worthwhile for human beings to live on the earth.

--- John Rawls, The Law of Peoples (Harvard, 1999)

I am admitted for practice in all Vermont courts-the criminal, civil and probate courts, and our state's highest court, the Vermont Supreme Court. In addition, I have practiced in the Vermont district of the federal court system, known formally as the District Court for the District of Vermont as well as at the next highest level of the federal system, which is the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Our Second Circuit Court of Appeals handles federal appeals from New York, Vermont and Connecticut.
